Exploring the Painting Styles of Malaysian Chinese Artists after the National Cultural Congress

Since Malaysia’s independence, the complex cultural environment has led artists to frequently mix cultures, shift ideas and borrow elements in creative process. As an immigrant group, Chinese have gradually reduced their expressions of characteristics social interaction with different groups, such as Malays Indians, significantly indigenous Malaysian culture concept Islamic art considerably impacted traditional painting. After National Cultural Congress (NCC) was conducted 1971, government advocated development national art. To integrate into mainstream market, borrowed referred local works attempted create a new form artistic symbolism expression. Therefore, this paper will interpret paintings period. A combination context analysis explain how after 1971 were integrated society contributed by building identity through paintings.
